Highlights of the Tour:
By tramway we will reach the famous Strahov monastery and have a very nice view of Prague.Walking past the famous Loreta (there is a monstrance decorated by 6.222 diamands) we will arrive at Hradčanské square,where the movie Amadeus,the biography of Mozart was filmed.
After walking through Hradcany, the city around famous Prague Castle, we will reach the Prague Castle which was founded in the 10th century.We will visit interior of St.Vitus Cathedral which is 99 meters tall and is the final resting place for monarchs and clergymen as well as patron saints. For those visiting Prague,exploring Prague Castle is a must, practically every stone has its own colourful history.
Then I will take you on a walk through Lesser town,past the houses with nice baroques symbols on facades and the famous St.Nicolas church,where Mozart played the organ.Next we will continue across the ancient Charles bridge which was named after it’s founder and one of the most important figures in Czech history,Emperor Charles the 4th. Charles Bridge was constructed in 1357; and is the oldest bridge in Prague. The bridge itself is over 520 m in length and has 30 statues as well as two gigantic gothic towers on each end that act as beautiful gateways to the bridge.I will describe the most important statues.
Through the Clementinum,the national library,we will visit the Old town which consists of very narrow streets where many buildings were built in the 8th and 9th centuries.We will go through the Jewish town which has one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Europe and the oldest active synagogue in the middle Europe, built in 1270.
The tour continues with a look at the famous astronomical clock in middle of Old town. Then we will leave Old town and visit the most important part of New town,Wenceslas square.
