Highlights of the Tour:
Yu garden - old French concession - Shanghai old street - the Bund - XinTianDi
Start the tour at the typical Ming dynasty Yu garden. You can also shop for jewellery and Chinese crafts at this popular tourist destination. In the same area we can walk in Shanghai Old Street which is almost 1km long, and was the location of Shanghai’s first bank, with many tea houses, opera houses, and gold shops. Then you can wander in the tree-lined former French concession to TaiKang Road, a series of old lanes and alleys in traditional Shanghai style, renovated as a modern café and art/crafts complex. Then I will take you to the Bund to admire the famous English waterfront architecture, and you can see the world’s tallest building (by roof) on the other side of the river. We will finish by relaxing in XinTianDi which was the site of the first Chinese Communist party congress, and now a nightlife district with many bars and restaurants. (All destinations and itineraries flexible and open to discussion.)
