Johann's Private Taxi Tours

Being a native Austrian, born and raised in the countryside of northern Upper-Austria I did get the chance to live abroad for more than ten years in my twenties and thirties.

It was in New York in 1987 that I met my one and only wife, a native Japanese. Since that time I developed strong interest in Japanese culture and language. Between 1989 and 1992 I stayed and worked as a volunteer for an international organization in South-Korea (Busan) where I spent a lot of time studying Korean language and culture, e.g. singing in an international Korean choir.

Music is one of the things I treasure very much. Anton Bruckner and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are some of my favorite composers. Currently I am also active member in a local Church Choir, singing bass. In my opinion music allows us to experience an other dimension of life connection us to a spiritual realm and our creator.

Since 2001 and I live with my family (wife, one son, one daughter, and my parents) on my family's organic farm. My last employment was between 1999 - 2006 as a Computer Software localization specialist in Softwarepark Hagenberg (www.swp.at).

Now since 2007 I am an independent tourist guide with business licenses for tour operator (guide-taxi), translation service and intercultural assistance.

In 2009 Linz city, was a European capital of culture along with Vilnius (Lithuania). I will be delighted to introduce to you Linz city and other parts of Austria. Being also a certified Linz city cab driver I am very glad to offer you individual private tours. As your personal guide and cab driver I can take you to many different destinations and arrange your very special tour.

During preparation for the tourist guide examination I have learned a lot of details about Austrian history. For me the time of Adolf Hitler and the horrors of the National Socialist regime is something very important to still remember and learn from. The former concentration camp Mauthausen, close to Linz, is one of the destinations I offer to visit.

Of course, Austria is famous for its incredible landscape and natural sights besides a lot of well-known tourist attractions. A favorite destination is the marvelous lake area "Salzkammergut" with Hallstaetter See, Wolfgang See with locations where the movie "The Sound of Music" was produced.
